Concerns grow over new viral challenge to eat laundry detergent pods

Concerns grow over new viral challenge to eat laundry detergent pods

2018-01-12T20:28:00+0000

Videos and memes show photos where teens and kids put laundry pods on pizzas or breakfast cereal, trying to bite into them and spit them out.

The detergent already comes in a child-resistant packaging to keep young children from swallowing them, but that's not stopping teens from accepting the 'challenge.'

Is this therapeutic center a religious organization bent on converting? I have no trust in you or your party which is often caught pretending to be in the public interest while pandering to private interests that conflict with separation of church and state laws and traditions.

Strange, that graph resembles a Tide Laundry Pod. Any Democrats try to eat it yet?

Children should receive help, not detention

So this only extends to children and sex trafficking? Why not human trafficking as the umbrella for all? Are local healthcare facilites, emergency rooms and their staff trained to recognize the signs of a child being trafficked? It states legal penalties? How is this accomplished when the United States Congress has been slow to act in changing the Communications Decency Act, Section 230? Children are sold and traded online and those sites have immunity from the federal government? See these two trailers. The first is a Netflix documentary and follows families' path to seeking justice in the judicial system and they are denied. Supreme Court states this if for Congress to repair. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SB7-uqvnS0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq-PdMr7pTYhttps://www.youtube...

I checked out the two foundations listed. Something I might add that anyone can do before making statements without facts. Both have no religious affiliation The one foundation, kronkosky, was originally started by a man and his wife. The man was born in borne tx. They made money through business they founded like gebhart chili. The couple never had children and the foundation was set up to help children. The couple have passed away Please don't make assumptions and check for facts Stop constantly looking for the negative. I wish them all the best. The Roy Maas organization also has been about helping children. Do your homework people. I am not a conservative or liberal. I am a person that cares and believes in facts not statements.

First good thing I have seen from Abbott.

Thanks to the Democrats that run Bexar County.

Governor Abbot, what are you going to do about the schools that allowed the boy to shoot a girl? He should not been in any school but reform school. This kid , time after time was trouble. The schools system fail this young girl, he was nothing but a bully. And people just turn their heads, now a young girl suffered for it. Start, firing these people and get people in that do the jobs right. A concerns Texas citizen.

Abbott knows he's on his way out. He has no ❤ for very important issues. Texas blue

Finally, practicing human decency.

Blue wave is on its way.

I WOULD NEVER TRUST SOMEONE YOU ENDORSE! #LUPEVALDEZFORGOVERNOR

Why not extend this to all juveniles who suffer from mental illness.

Doing a great job Governor.

Texas House Republican Caucus Texas Senate Republican Caucus Dan Patrickcan you speed up construction projects

Actual Pro Life...

Well done!!!

IF they are Hispanic.

This is an EXCELLENT idea !

so they claim to help children while taking rights from women and making them have rape insurance.....slap after slap in the face

Texas does not protect life. Why is our maternal and infant mortality rate so high? Why do we have so many uninsured? Why do we have so little access to birth control?

Texas also hates women. By forcing them to do things that they shouldn't have to. Texas sucks at educating kids on sex, and stds.

Yes, let’s celebrate ensuring babies are born while we refuse to make sure they are safe, fed, cared for and educated. Those things aren’t important- oh, wait- sanctity of life day or sanctity of birth day? Let’s call it what it really is.

Dear pro life people- if you want us to believe that you really care about pregnancy, make maternity easier and less expensive. Make paid maternity leave mandatory. Make prenatal vitamins free. Put your money where your mouth is. If not, the rest of us are going to continue to believe that it's not about the moms or potential children, it's about telling women what to do.

Texas does not protect life. It does it's best to force women to have children they don't want or can't afford. Comprehensive sex education, birth control, universal health care, a living wage and family leave protect life.

Unless you're going to include immigrants, children outside the womb, and especially women of color - Texas protects fetuses and not life. If Texas protected all life we would have safe and reliable ways of accessing contraception, providing factually and scientifically accurate sexual and relationship education, properly funding public education and outreach programs, seriously overhauling our dismal foster system, and actually funding CHIP/Medicaid/SNAP. Make no mistake - Texas does not protect life.

How about all the children who are murdered by their “mothers” “fathers” who could of been saved if the CPS systems wouldn’t of failed them!! Why isn’t anyone stepping up and focusing on this PROBLEM rather than focusing on telling a women what to do with her body!?! Yes abortions should be regulated and limitations should be placed but let’s focus on what happens after the baby is here living with unfit parents!!!

I do protect life; life already here. You're abandoning children on CHIP because you don't believe in helping children who are being brought to the states under no choice of their own from achieving a college education and secure jobs. You abandon 100,000s of children here in Texas. You're shameful.

Protect the fetus abandon the child am I right little greggy. Screw kids once they are born let them fend for themselves. They don't need healthcare, or quality education. As long as they have god. Their empty bellies will be filled with God's word who needs food.

And yet, you defunded Planned Parenthood.

You only care about life until a child is born. Then you think those lazy babies should get jobs to pay for their own medical care and education. You make it impossible for poor women to get birth control, so they continue to have babies that they cannot afford. Then there are the private prisons that separate families to make owners rich. You are only pro money!

Unless the life belongs to an immigrant... or a poor person. If only Texas supported people after they leave the womb. What you do is regulate women's bodies. Even though there is no evidence that this improves outcomes (it doesn't) and it does not decrease the rate of abortions.

You protect the right to be born, yet you're doing nothing about protecting the rights and programs leading to a reasonable life. Does anyone in your office read the responses to your post or do you just post stuff and blow off what people think? I can quit wasting my time if you don't read and take into consideration what people think.

until they are born.. then they could care less...

Greg Abbot has never protected anyone but himself his whole life. Can't wait to vote you out

Is that why we have the maternal mortality rate of a 3rd world country? and why the governor pulled all funding for investigating the cause?

Texas does not protect life: highest maternal mortality rate, one of the lowest rates of insured people, foster care system with one of the highest rates of unexplained deaths of children in it’s care, one of the lowest in education performance. Highest in states carrying out death penalty. No. Texas is pro birth...not pro life.

No, it does not. We have the worst postpartum death rate in the country and even worse the some third world countries. You spend time and money fixing problems that don’t exist and ignore real issues. Shame on you using unborn child to get votes when you let their mothers die and do nothing to fix it. www.texasstandard.org/stories/the-rate-of-maternal-mortality-in-texas-is-the-highest-in-the-devel...

You protect conception, gestation and birth. Your concept of "sanctity of life" ends at the moment of birth. That. Is. Reprehensible.

Texas protects births. And with our maternal and infant mortality rates, we're not even doing a good job of that.

*birth. You trying to protect birth. But you won't fund healthcare for babies. Or their mom's. Especially if they're poor. So, I mean, hollow sentiment if you ask me.

Texas doesn't protect life. It doesn't even protect birth. Medicaid expansion could go a long way to improving maternal and child health and improving infant and maternal mortality in particular. Come on. You can do better than you're doing. Get off your ideological pedestal and come down to earth.

If Texas protected life, they would have expanded Medicaid when the ACA gave them the chance. We have the largest uninsured population in the country. Sure, most kids get Medicaid or CHIP, but what do you think is happening to those kids when their parents are sick and have no way to get better? Why don’t you care for kids by caring for their parents?

A few years back I learned something that actually shocked me. I knew for years that my mom had been given medicine by doctors she wasn't support to take. I am her first born and she was only 20 too, plus my dad was in the Air Force so she had to use the Military doctors. Anyway, a 3rd doctor finally found out what she was taking and immediately was taken off of it. After some tests she was told that her child had a high risk having a Disability. What I had found out a few years ago, was that the doctors gave my mom the option of having an abortion. Keep in mind this was Texas in 81, so the laws were probably different then. Needless to say my mom was horrified that they suggested that. She was use to being around people with special needs and felt she was up to the task. So I am thankful my mom kept me, even though I know I wasn't easy to raise and wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome until I was 21. So yes I am pro-life.

Thank god Texas doesn’t allow capital punishment because of the sanctity of life! Wait... Okay, so they definitely have a death penalty but they still protect life by making sure maternity care is effective and available! Wait, no, I’d have a better chance not dying from pregnancy or childbirth complications in Saudi freaking Arabia. I founded a ProLife chapter when I was a teenager and Texas doesn’t even know what prolife actually means.

Dallas Zoo

YOU DID THIS! Every time you donate to our wildlife conservation fund, that money goes directly into the hands of our incredible conservation partners, like the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Center. They're rehabilitating orphaned Grauer’s gorillas in the Congo and this new tower will help rangers keep a watchful eye on the beloved great apes in their forest enclosure.

Thank you for your generous contributions on World Gorilla Day last September. We couldn't be happier to show you one of the critical ways your donations are being put to work! ❤️ 🦍The staff observation towers around the perimeter of the new gorilla forest enclosure are going in! Thanks to our friends at Dallas Zoo and to our supporters on Giving Tuesday for making this possible. The gorillas will be in their new habitat soon!
