Texas Parks and Wildlife

Have you ever had a close enounter with an armadillo?

Due to their poor eyesight, armadillos can look directly at someone who is standing still and give no indication that they see anything.

Learn more about these rambling creatures at bit.ly/ArmadillosTX

Ray Roberts Lake State Park Isle du Bois - Texas Parks and Wildlife
"I can smell youuu."
While they have poor eyesight, an armadillos nose is top-notch! They use that superb sense of smell to find insects and worms in the ground, then use their strong claws to dig em up!
Bon appetit!

Haha - we had an armadillo encounter shortly after we moved to TX - our dog chased four of them into the swimming pool! I thought they'd sink like rocks but those little suckers can swim!! They are like midget submarines, with those little snouts acting like snorkels. They paddle like crazy but stay afloat! I am so sorry this happened in the days before camera phones because it would have made an awesomely hilarious video.

Taken at Lake Texana in Edna, TX. The park is full of them.

I've seen them in the brush but they never let me get close

I've yet to see one in person alive 😞

Growing up we’d catch them.

So very sad to see this

Where can we sign up for this program?

I know Brian personally. Good job!

Way to go warden

To the negative commenters... They harvest does and do testing on them every year. They allow youths to do this in order to teach/practice gun safety and teach younger generations about the cycle of hunting and to preserve this natural resource. The State does biological testing of soft tissue and brain cells for Illnesses and diseases. There are very many positive things to gain from these youth hunts, including positive encouragement and great character building. You, ma'am/sir, are not being a part of that POSITIVE ENCOURAGEMENT. Please don't take this as an attack toward you. I'm simply trying to make you aware. Thank You, Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife for everything you are doing for our youth and the environment!

Outstanding! Responsibility, conservation. Appreciation of nature, and reverence for life all worthy. And useful values. Great job! S.

That's what it's all about! Good job!

Awsome job. I have seen our wildlife officers taking young hunters out all the time. They do way more than most people know.

Great job, kids! Thank you for teaching and spending time with them, Brian

Great job nice kill during youth season❤️

Awesome harvest!

Coleman and McCulloch county game wardens work their butts off during a dove hunt Pat Poole’s annual PVA. Good guys.

Great job Brian!

Texas Game Wardens

Texas Game Warden Daniel Roraback was honored to have been a part of helping host a benefit hog hunt to raise money for Hayden Pruett, a local 8th grader, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Hayden loves to hunt, and the community definitely came out to support him through an activity that he loves, with some significant funds being raised.

Hayden Pruett your Texas Game Wardens are behind you, keep up the fight!
