The UT Tower will shine with burnt-orange lights and “17” displayed on its sides to honor the Class of 2017 and this year’s graduates on both Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10: utex.as/2AJ6BHe

Why is the University discontinuing the fall graduation ceremonies? Even this year several colleges including the CNS did not have one. This is so wrong and it is allienating many graduating students who should be encouraged to develop a lifelong relationship with their University. Their University should honor their efforts and achievements but having the full graduation ceremony for all students graduating in December. There are a very large number effected by this ridiculous decision. Think about not just the dollars that it cost today to put on these ceremonies but the dollars that could be brought in in the future through donations given by these students who feel that their hard work was rewarded by their University. UT, please explain this unfortunate decision and it get it correct for next December.

Congratulations to all the 2017 graduates at The University of Texas at Austin! There's no place like UT! You have so much to be proud of and are well-equipped for a wonderful future! Enjoy your life's journey! Cheers, blessings and love from someone who cares in Far West Texas!

In 2008, he insulted Texas students when he was the AD for Rice while at the Rice Alumni tailgate before the Texas game. He said Texas students were just people who weren’t smart enough to get into Rice. Now he’s probably talking about how great Texas is. Liar. Asshole.

You idiots that scream for Beck to be fired. You can’t have any offensive scheme without a line. If you don’t know football, then don’t speak.

As long as he doesn’t take coaches with him, I am ok. UT has been trying to entice Tcu coaches every time they fire one.

Welcome ATX I hope we going to be Champions again.

Can you bring your OC with you please? 😏

So sorry you left TCU, Chris.

Great hire!

I think 1988. I was there and the beer was cold.

I was there and saw that run ...!

The year was 1988, April 9th and he made the run on only 7 cylinders. One cylinder failed at launch!

I was there. Crowd was electric ⚡️😃

I was there!

Yes I was there!! I came up from San Antonio with a group of friends for the races that weekend. I remember on the drive up hearing on the radio how Joe Amata had set the new record at 4.17 and we were all bummed that we did not get to see it. Then we all got to witness Eddie Hill's historic run. Great fun weekend.

I remember watching it live on TV in 1988...then seen it happen several times at Topeka Kansas Heartland Park later that same year at the new state of the art facility that Topeka was at the time....But Eddie Hill was the man for being first in the 4 sec. Quarter mile.....when they still raced real quarter miles....

Top fuel "T" shirt night. The weather kept a lot of people away but just like Texas, it cleared up, sun came out and dried things out enough to race. There were only 4 top fuel cars there that night. I remember Joe Amatto running so rich you could see the I burned fuel in the exhaust. I remember Eddie didn't get to back up the run that night due to the hole in the side of the block. Because it was T shirt night, my girlfriend and I had t shirts made just for that event. One said "I'd rather be blown" the other said "I'd rather be injected". Many great memories from that track with many more to come. I've only missed one fuel race there since track opened, that was due to being out of town

I was there....the side panel of the wing flew off. It landed in front of me and I bent over the fence and grabbed it. I immediately went and put it in the car. Security came over and told me that Eddie could not make another pass without it, so I gave it back and he gave me a signed Tshirt. Turned out, that was a lie as he showed up next round with a black replacement.

I was there when he did it on sat night and it rained out the fineals on sunday so the next weekend they had the finals and I came back from Austin and got a autorgraphed t-shirt and hat saying first in the fours . Still got em :)

I graduated high school in 88. My dad worked for a Ford dealership his entire career. Long story short, he used to get pit passes and great seats. I saw Eddie run the 4.99. great memories of smelling top furl and burnt rubber. And that was long before they had 11,000 horsepower.

IHRA Texas Nationals in 1988 I was there and was 20 years old at the time. Hard to believe it was 29 years ago. Fortunately I have been able to see all of the classes evolve as much as they have. So many records broken over my years as a fan, and still breaking them.

Spring of 88. My little girl was 2 months old. I had not been back to the track since then until the fall nationals this year. Can’t wait for spring to get here. I will be there even if I do buy my own tickets. What a blast!!

My dad and i were there and my dad looks like Eddie Hills twin so needless to say he always gets the can we get a picture with you Eddie but that day after that pass we got bombarded with people everywhere we went.. It was a fun day Eddie and my dad were friends long before so Eddie always says hey Charlie my dads name can you run interference for me lol...

I was there, my first-ever National event. I went with one of my best friends Marty Chance and his dad Neal Chance. I don't remember anything except for that pass and those guys farting in the hotel room all night long. 1988 a year and a half after Marty and I graduated High School. 30 years later I race a Top Fuel Motorcycle and just ran along side Larry McBride 2 weeks ago when he set a new World record...5.61! .62 slower than Eddie on a motorcycle!

I was driving Bruce Shofner's 63 Nova wagon in super street at that event. We were in the pits in the back forty when I heard the top fuel cars start up I ran to the finish line in time to see the run and Bubba Corzine celebrating the historic run

This question brings em' all out. It's like Woodstock, everyone was there, even people that weren't even born yet.

April 4, 1988. Gene Snow was in the other lane. I was probably swimming around in my dad’s sack since I wasn’t born until 1991!

I was there! Have the first in the 4's T-shirt with Eddie and Ercie on it. Never forget Fuzzy Carter reaction at the starting line. Have been NHRA fan ever since.

88 when I worked for Chief auto parts. Was hanging at the Chief vip tent that day when I wasn't in the pits or watching some awesome passes.

Yes I was there, even got a signed rod from him and Fuzzy from the event. Cool thing is the rod was still warm from use.....

I was out the previous day and Gene Snow ran a 5.08. I figured someone would break in the fours, so went back and Eddie did it.

I was there 1988 couldn’t believe it awesome run I asked him if this was better than his record run on water he smiled and said definitely yes

He stayed into the early morning hours signing autographs till every last man, woman and child had left the building !!

Standing on the pit side fence about 600 ft, quickly grabbed the camera to take a pic of the score board!!!!!
